The film’s standout feature lies in its inventive narrative choices. Notably, the entire movie relies on a mere single line of spoken dialogue, emphasizing the clever use of sound throughout. The initial act masterfully handles the invasion, crafting palpable tension through diegetic sounds. As Brynn stealthily navigates her home in an attempt to elude the alien threat, everyday sounds such as ringing phone tones and creaking floorboards induce an unsettling sense of unease.

Brynn’s intelligence adds depth to this sequence, as she approaches each move with purpose, strategy, and resourcefulness, positioning her as a protagonist worth rooting for rather than dismissing. Additionally, Duffield skillfully exploits the architectural elements of the house to evoke fear and build suspense. From utilizing hidden nooks and crannies to casting eerie, distorted shadows through frosted glass, the enchanting charm of the daytime dwelling gives way to a visceral sense of dread.

However, as effective as these elements are initially, they gradually lose their impact as the scene unfolds.
